Boosters and Community Support
The Caldwell Athletic Booster Club and community has been a strong supporter of our athletes and teams. The community support at games and events has given our athletes an edge in competition. The Caldwell community has been supportive of our coaching staff, and they have recognized the value of the jobs that our coaches have done. A positive rapport between boosters, community members and our coaching staff is set in place.
The Caldwell Athletic Booster Club has been instrumental in planning and preparation for our coaches, athletes and teams. Their commitment to excellence for our athletes has been outstanding. The Booster Club has been a huge plus for us in our daily operations through financial backing and hard work behind the scenes. Much of this credit goes to our Booster Club leadership and Board of Directors. Special thanks goes out to this year’s officers: President, Allen Smith; Vice-President, Wes Kauder; Secretary, Pam Payonk; Treasurer, Tracy Stone; and Reporter, Bobretta Taylor.
Congratulations to the following people who will be the officers for the 2013-14 school year: President, Sundy Fryrear; Vice-President, Wes Kauder; Secretary, Beverly Lilie; Treasurer, Tracy Stone; and Reporter, Cynthia Kauder.
The continued involvement of the Caldwell community and parents will be a vital ingredient for the overall success level of the Caldwell Athletic Program. As athletic director, I look forward to working with the loyal members of the Caldwell Athletic Boosters and community.
Sincerely,
Coach Goforth

Weekend baseball and softball updates

Lady Hornet Softball fell short in their first district match-up against home team Taylor. It was a pitching and defensive duel, with freshman pitcher Casey Kauder facing off with Taylor's senior pitcher Selena Lopez. Lopez kept the Lady Hornets off balance all night in the batter's box. Kauder recorded 14 strikeouts and helped take the 0-0 game into 2 extra innings in the 9 inning contest. Lady Hornets were defensively sound all night until the bottom of the 9th, when a Taylor hit prompted a Hornet error to enable Taylor to take the 1-0 victory.
You can watch both teams in action Tuesday night in Navasota at 7pm.

Goforth named Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at CISD; plans to be in place after spring break
Bobby Jack Goforth has accepted the position of athletic director and head football coach for Caldwell Independent School District. He comes to Caldwell from John Jay High School in San Antonio, where he has served as head football coach since 2007.
Goforth has a football-rich history, beginning as a player at Caldwell High School in the early- to mid-eighties. After graduating, Goforth went to school at Baylor University on a football scholarship, playing under legendary coach Grant Teaff. Goforth began his coaching career in Mexia, and later spent 8 years coaching football at the state’s premier powerhouse, Katy High School.
In an interview today with Eagle sports writer Larry Bowen on KZNE 1150, Goforth explains his reasoning for coming back to Caldwell after so many years.
“I wanted the opportunity to give back to Caldwell,” states Goforth, “which was a place that gave so much to me and my family through the years.” According to Goforth, the timing was right for a move, despite the volatile atmosphere of the past few seasons.
With regard to football , Goforth states there will be a huge emphasis on defense, and he won’t rule out some quick passing and play action on offense.
When asked about his immediate course of action, Goforth says, “I hope to be in Caldwell the Monday following spring break to work with the kids and start to formulate a plan of action as we head into the summer months.” He goes on to say, “The most important thing is the kids [in Caldwell], and how to impact them in a positive way so they can create their own memories.”

Giving back to Caldwell Athletics
Caldwell Athletic Booster Club proudly supports middle and high school athletics. During this school year alone, substantial funds from memberships, concession sales, spiritwear sales and other fundraising activities have gone directly into all of the following programs at both schools:
As parents, fans and community members, please invest in our athletes by supporting the Booster Club's various programs. Our purpose is to raise funds; doing so allows the purchase of new equipment, new uniforms, and team meals for athletes who travel to out-of-town events, including games and tournaments.
Help us to spread the word that supporting Caldwell Athletic Booster Club initiatives directly benefits all athletes within Caldwell ISD. Each time you buy a membership, each time you purchase spiritwear, each time you volunteer for an event, it helps our local athletes.
Booster Club meetings are typically held in the High School Commons on the first Monday of every month. If you would like to volunteer or would like to be placed on an email contact list for various Booster Club activities, please email tracystone.cabc@gmail.com.
