School Spirit: The Heart of the Swarm

Doesn’t our athletes’ willingness to fight make you proud to be a Hornet fan?

Last week the boys on the field had challenges but showed dedication and character by continuing to give it their all. And you can bet they, as well as the coaches, have been working all week to bring you their best this week.

Similarly, on the volleyball court this week the young ladies in orange and white went back and forth in a match that went into 5 sets, and the young athletes never gave up—in the end being victorious over Smithville.

Games may be won or lost on the field or court against very worthy opponents, but the character and dedication that our athletes at Caldwell High School possess are second to none. They are the reason why the Caldwell Athletic Booster Club continues to grow, with a whole host of volunteers that make everything we do possible.

So when you see them around town, tell them good job, shake their hands, pat them on their backs and let them know you are proud to wear Orange and White!

One "Wild Ride" for Caldwell Athletics

Local business owner Jim Cross of Bud Cross Ford presents Caldwell Athletic Director Kenneth Gilchrist with the keys to a 2012 F-150 FX2 Lariat crew cab truck outfitted in hues of orange, navy and white. The truck, which displays a hornet crashing through the sides, will be in Gilchrist's possession for the entire school year and will be a mainstay at Caldwell sporting events.

"We wanted to do something to show 100% support for the new athletic program at Caldwell ISD," says Cross. With my dad's background as a coach in Caldwell, it seemed fitting to make a big statement. I hope the community is as excited as we are about the program and the coming years."

Bud Cross Ford has supported Caldwell Athletics for decades and encourages other local businesses and residents to do the same. Caldwell Athletic Booster Club sponsorships and memberships are still available. Contact a board member or volunteer for more information.
