It is vital that you prepare yourself and be in shape when practice starts. We will work out in shorts, t-shirts and helmets for the first 4 days and then be in pads on Friday and Saturday of the first week of workouts.

We will scrimmage Lexington on Friday, August 16th starting at 9 am at Hornet Field. Our second scrimmage will be against Trinity at Trinity High School on Thursday, August 22nd at 6pm. Our first game will be August 30th against Bellville at Bellville High School.

I encourage you to get up to the school, work out and prepare yourself and our team for success this year. It is our goal to uphold the Pride of Hornet Football Tradition and to compete for the District Championship. The recipe for success is your hard work and dedication and belief in one another. This is the only way to be a champion.

Dear Parents and/or Guardians:

On behalf of all the coaches at Caldwell High School and Caldwell Middle School, I would like to thank you for allowing us the opportunity to work with your son and/or daughter. The success our teams and athletic program experience is a reflection of your dedication and your child’s hard work and self-discipline.

Our responsibility, as coaches, is to create a positive and enthusiastic environment that promotes higher standards of excellence and a strong work ethic as well as one that fosters teamwork, school pride, and character development so that your son and/or daughter will develop the skills and traits necessary to be successful later in life. The basis of this letter is to thank you for your support and to ask for your future continued involvement in your child’s academic and athletic participation.

Additionally, we would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to some of the special offerings on the Caldwell High School campus this summer. In an effort to better prepare your child and our athletes for the rigors of athletic competition and to help your son and/or daughter develop certain sport-specific skills, the Caldwell athletic department will be keeping the weight room and one of the gyms open Monday-Friday from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm and Monday-Thursday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm as well as hosting several camps this summer.

These camps will be offered at a minimal cost and will include a six-week strength and conditioning camp (June 17th-July 26) and a football camp (July 22-26) for all incoming 7th, 8th and 9th graders. Information on the individual camps will be made available to your son/daughter through their respective coaches. All forms can be secured at Middle and High School offices. Any questions or concerns may be directed to me at 567-9053.

Once again, we are excited about the opportunity to coach your son and/or daughter and we look forward to seeing and working with them at our summer camps.

The Caldwell Athletic Booster Club and community has been a strong supporter of our athletes and teams. The community support at games and events has given our athletes an edge in competition. The Caldwell community has been supportive of our coaching staff, and they have recognized the value of the jobs that our coaches have done. A positive rapport between boosters, community members and our coaching staff is set in place.

The Caldwell Athletic Booster Club has been instrumental in planning and preparation for our coaches, athletes and teams. Their commitment to excellence for our athletes has been outstanding. The Booster Club has been a huge plus for us in our daily operations through financial backing and hard work behind the scenes. Much of this credit goes to our Booster Club leadership and Board of Directors. Special thanks goes out to this year’s officers: President, Allen Smith; Vice-President, Wes Kauder; Secretary, Pam Payonk; Treasurer, Tracy Stone; and Reporter, Bobretta Taylor.

Congratulations to the following people who will be the officers for the 2013-14 school year: President, Sundy Fryrear; Vice-President, Wes Kauder; Secretary, Beverly Lilie; Treasurer, Tracy Stone; and Reporter, Cynthia Kauder.

The continued involvement of the Caldwell community and parents will be a vital ingredient for the overall success level of the Caldwell Athletic Program. As athletic director, I look forward to working with the loyal members of the Caldwell Athletic Boosters and community.
Fifteen runs in the first three innings allowed the Hornets to put the game away early. Winning pitcher, Dylan Drgac had nine strikeouts and only one earned run on six hits. Jake Payonk and Drgac led all hitters with 4 hits each. Tanner Luna and Jake Payonk earned All Tournament honors.

Lady Hornet Softball fell short in their first district match-up against home team Taylor. It was a pitching and defensive duel, with freshman pitcher Casey Kauder facing off with Taylor's senior pitcher Selena Lopez. Lopez kept the Lady Hornets off balance all night in the batter's box. Kauder recorded 14 strikeouts and helped take the 0-0 game into 2 extra innings in the 9 inning contest. Lady Hornets were defensively sound all night until the bottom of the 9th, when a Taylor hit prompted a Hornet error to enable Taylor to take the 1-0 victory.
You can watch both teams in action Tuesday night in Navasota at 7pm.

As parents, fans and community members, please invest in our athletes by supporting the Booster Club's various programs. Our purpose is to raise funds; doing so allows the purchase of new equipment, new uniforms, and team meals for athletes who travel to out-of-town events, including games and tournaments.

Help us to spread the word that supporting Caldwell Athletic Booster Club initiatives directly benefits all athletes within Caldwell ISD. Each time you buy a membership, each time you purchase spiritwear, each time you volunteer for an event, it helps our local athletes.

Booster Club meetings are typically held in the High School Commons on the first Monday of every month.
Last week the boys on the field had challenges but showed dedication and character by continuing to give it their all. And you can bet they, as well as the coaches, have been working all week to bring you their best this week.

Similarly, on the volleyball court this week the young ladies in orange and white went back and forth in a match that went into 5 sets, and the young athletes never gave up—in the end being victorious over Smithville.

Games may be won or lost on the field or court against very worthy opponents, but the character and dedication that our athletes at Caldwell High School possess are second to none. They are the reason why the Caldwell Athletic Booster Club continues to grow, with a whole host of volunteers that make everything we do possible.

So when you see them around town, tell them good job, shake their hands, pat them on their backs and let them know you are proud to wear Orange and White!#1 Fanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09815570354945941392noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1159582866278327989.post-31342989566469051442012-08-29T10:57:00.001-07:002012-08-29T10:57:45.579-07:00Are you ready for some football?!Check out the latest on the Caldwell Hornet varsity football team on KBTX's Hometown Heroes.
